I actually had mine on about a month before surgery and i felt like i was cleaning my teeth all the time.

Parker called and told me that they had done the surgery planning and decided only the lower jaw needed to be done.
I think a week is a bit much to have to deal with these hooks prior to surgery but i wanted to know what has everyone else experienced.
